Walking Tour: Norfolk’s Industrial Past
August 3 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
Norfolk historian Richard Byrne will take visitors on a tour recalling the sights and sounds of the once-thriving mills and factories that sat along the Blackberry River. This two-hour walk will take you to the head of the mill dam and meander along Greenwoods Road (Route 44), stopping to see one of the remaining buildings and the site of the large waterwheel that once powered the Long Stone Shop, built in 1854.
The tour can be followed on foot or by car using the map supplied. Please meet at the Norfolk Historical Society by 9:45, as the tour will leave promptly at 10:00. If it rains heavily, the walk will take place Sunday, starting at 2:00 p.m. sharp.
