A special event designed to showcase the town’s many natural and cultural offerings.
Brad Robinson returns to the Norfolk Library with a stunning display of mobiles, Soaring Sculptures. Although he was taught the mechanics of balance by his father, an engineer, the recurring themes of birds or fish reflect Robinson’s education as a biologist. Influenced by the work of Alexander Calder and Asian art, he creates a mobile with a minimum of lines, relying on movement and the viewer’s eye to complete the image. The aesthetic challenge of creating sculpture in four dimensions holds an appeal to both the scientist and artist in him. The show is open Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Library Associates will hold an opening reception for the show on Sunday, August 7, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
