Concert at the Music Shed: Popular Music. All four works in this program incorporate elements of popular music. You will hear echoes of jazz, cabaret and the sophisticated parties of the 1920s Jazz Age. At Battell Recital Hall, 20 Litchfield Road, Paul Berry will be discussing topics related to this evening's concert. The half-hour talk starts at 7:00 p.m.

The combination of Karen’s voice and Richard’s compositions and arrangements won the Carpenters a worldwide legion of loyal fans. This show, starring Michelle Berting Brett and her 7-piece Nashville band, re-creates the Carpenters’ original sound. Great for the whole family.

Concert at the Music Shed: In the Face of Death. This program features works written in the final year of three composers' lives and each reflects a different take on the impending end of life. There are flashes of mystery and brilliant light in the Debussy and Schubert works, whereas the Strauss provides a sense of calm and acceptance.

Pianist Donald Sosin and actor/vocalist Joanna Seaton will present a program of silent comedy shorts accompanied by live music and sound effects. Films will feature Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd. This event is part of the Music Festival’s annual Open House. It also features a children's concert by Festival Fellows, tours of Whitehouse, games and an ice cream social.
