Little Red School House Scavenger Hunt for Children

Pick up a scavenger hunt list at the WIN information center or at the Historical Society, 13 Village Green. Clues are all school related, and you will need a phone with a camera. Check in on Sunday between noon and 3:00 p.m. at the Little Red School House, on the corner of Ashpohtag and Bald Mountain Road. Children who complete the list will receive a voucher for a free ice cream at Berkshire Country Store.

Take a guided tour of Battell Chapel's magnificent stained glass windows, designed by D. Maitland Armstrong and Louis Comfort Tiffany. Three large windows designed by Armstrong and made of opalescent glass fill the west end of the chapel. Tiffany's five smaller windows face them from the east; they depict the four seasons, with a brilliant sunrise as the center. Starting in 1884, photographer Marie Hartig Kendall chronicled the town of Norfolk and its environs in striking images that captured moving locomotives, historic weather events, economic development and bucolic pastimes. Many new photographs and objects have been added to this year’s exhibition. They include a rare photograph printed on glass and made to hang in a window, dozens of Kendall postcards recently acquired from a local estate and a look at the process of conserving period photographs.
